Frequently Asked Questions

Why talk to a therapist?

A therapist offers an outside perspective, along with professional training and expertise, to help you navigate your challenges. Therapy gives you a safe, private space to be completely honest without worrying about being judged or overheard. In this confidential space, we can work together to support your growth and personal development.

I’m not used to talking about my feelings and my past, I’m nervous!

It’s very natural for people to feel nervous to talk about themselves when we first start. As we develop the therapeutic relationship, I hope that you will feel comfortable discussing aspects of your life that you want to work on. Together, we can discover your strengths and make a goal to help overcome whatever challenges you are facing.

So… how do the sessions work?

When we meet, we will discuss your unique goals for our time together. You can talk as much or as little as you like, it is my job to make you feel safe in a mutually respectful environment. We can take it at your pace. Depending on your challenges, I will customize the therapeutic style to ensure your needs are met.

How many sessions will we have?

This is very different for everyone. Some people come weekly or monthly for years. Others do six sessions and then check in once a month after that. Even though some people come with one particular challenge, this can lead to discussing another challenge which may take more time. Depending on how you are feeling, your financial situation and your capacity, we can talk about timelines as they arise.

So, what next?

The most important part of therapy is that you feel safe, comfortable and trust your therapist. To see if we are the right fit, you can book a 15-minute consultation here. From there, we can find a time that suits you best and start your new journey.
