About me

Kate McKenna

Hi, I’m Kate McKenna, a registered clinical counsellor in Vancouver, BC. Whether you’re new to counselling, facing fresh challenges, or simply looking for someone new to talk to, I’m here to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and supported.

Life can be tough, and we aren’t meant to go through it alone. Speaking with a therapist can help untangle the thoughts swirling in your mind, offering clarity around your behaviors and emotions. My counselling approach is collaborative – working together to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and achieve your personal goals. Every individual comes with their own unique story, so I make it a priority to meet you where you are, in every session.

I treat clients with many challenges including: anxiety, depression, life transitions, chronic pain, fertility issues and more. I use a mix of parts therapy, ACT, CBT and mindfulness.

Born, bred and buttered in Dublin, I made the move to Vancouver in 2011, ready to start a new chapter. Nearing 30 at the time, I sought a different path for myself and worked hard to create the life I envisioned. Along the way, I navigated fertility challenges, chronic pain, career shifts, the joys and demands of parenting two children, and the ever-evolving phases of life. I hope that both my professional expertise and personal journey can help guide and support you through whatever you’re facing today.

I hold a Psychology degree from The Open University, UK, and a Master’s degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle in Vancouver. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #24486) with BCACC.

If you’d like to see if we’re a good fit, feel free to book a free 15-minute consultation here.
